Blonsky and Shaiman Featured on Sirius Satellite Radio

Nikki Blonsky and Marc Shaiman, the respective star and composer of the hit movie musical Hairspray, will be featured as Sirius Radio presents an in depth, behind-the-scenes look at the film adaptation of the Tony Award-winning musical. The profile will air on August 3rd at 7 PM ET on Broadway's Best, channel 77, as well as on August 4th at 3 PM, August 5th at 12 PM and August 8th at 2 PM.   It will also air on OutQ on August 5th at 8 PM.

"Nikki Blonsky discusses the making of the film and what it was like working with her co-stars John Travolta and Queen Latifah. Marc Shaiman, the film's composer, takes to the piano and reveals how he brought all the excitement of the 1960s Broadway musical to the silver screen," state press notes.

"Hairspray is the film adaptation of the Tony-Award winning 2002 Broadway musical, which itself was adapted from the 1988 comedy by John Waters.  Set in 1962 Baltimore, the film follows a 'pleasantly plump' girl named Tracy Turnblad as she simultaneously pursues stardom as a dancer on a local TV show and rallies against racial segregation.  The film earned more than 27 million dollars in its opening weekend."  Directed by Adam Shankman, with a score by Shaiman and Scott Wittman, Hairspray also stars Michelle Pfeiffer, Amanda Bynes, Zac Efron, Elijah Kelley, Brittany Snow, Christopher Walken, Allison JanneyJames Marsden and more.
