Bay City Players will hold auditions for its upcoming production, LAUGHTER ON THE 23RD FLOOR, by Neil Simon, on Sunday and Monday, August 8 & 9, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Auditions will be held at Bay City Players, 1214 Columbus Avenue, in Bay City. The production, co-directed by Tina Sills and Michael Dunckel, will be performed September 24-26 and September 30-October 3, 2010.

The production is still seeking two women to play late 20's to mid 30's and seven men to play mid 20's to early 50's. Those auditioning will be asked to read selections from the script. Limited scripts are available for check-out from the theatre office Monday - Thursday from 9am to 2pm for a $10 refundable deposit.

This Broadway hit is an homage to the author's early days in show biz when he worked as a junior jokesmith for Sid Caesar's Your Show of Shows. He was stuck in a room with some of the looniest comedy writers-Mel Brooks, Carl Reiner, Larry Gelbart and Woody Allen, to name a few. The play is a memoir told by Simon's alter ego, Lucas. The writers try to top each other with gags while competing with each other for the attention of their madman, Max Prince (Caesar's character). Max contends with the NBC brass who fear his humor is too sophisticated for Middle America. The play has been described as one of Simon's funniest, employing old style comedy that is fast and furious. It also is true to the language used in many a writing room, thus the show contains strong adult language.

From its beginning in 1917 as the Bay City Art Club, Bay City Players has a rich history of providing entertaining and educational theatrical experiences to the Great Lakes Bay Region. Please contact the office Monday through Thursday from 9am to 2pm at (989) 893-5555 for more information, or visit our website at www.baycityplayers.com.
