BWW TV: The Kid Critics Can't Stop HAIRSPRAY LIVE!'s Beat
It's not hard to stumble across an excess of reviews for any given Broadway show these days, but there is a group of theatre-goers that is wildly underrepresented when it comes to opinions on Broadway- kids! BroadwayWorld continues KID CRITICS, a series that gives parents and children alike a kid's perspective on Broadway's hottest shows.
We are continuing the series with Tai (10), Isabella (12), and Charles (9), who tuned in for NBC's HAIRSPRAY LIVE! Curious about what they thought about the show? Find out below!
Can't get enough of HAIRSPRAY LIVE!? Then tune in to NBC for a reprise telecast of the musical on Monday, December 26th from 8-11 p.m. ET. Based on the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, "Hairspray Live!" takes place in 1962 Baltimore. Teenager Tracy Turnblad's dream is to dance on "The Corny Collins Show," a local TV program. When, against all odds, Tracy wins a role on the show, she becomes a celebrity overnight and meets a colorful array of characters, including the resident dreamboat, Link; the ambitious mean girl, Amber; an African-American boy she meets in detention, Seaweed; and his mother, Motormouth Maybelle, the owner of a local record store. Tracy's mother is the indomitable Edna Turnblad, and she eventually encourages Tracy on her campaign to integrate the all-white "Corny Collins Show."
