The current revival of Cole Porter's classic musical CAN-CAN at the Paper Mill Playhouse welcomed two audience members who loved the show - and each other - so much that they chose it as the location to commit to an engagement earlier this month.

The official story is as follows: "Love was in the air this past Saturday evening at Paper Mill Playhouse's Broadway-bound romantic hit musical "Can-Can."

On the day of their two year anniversary, Jason Gouveia made the decision to propose to the love of his life, Angelique Lowry. He told her he had to work that morning, so he was able to go out and buy the ring without her suspecting a thing. Jason was able to get tickets to "Can-Can" at the last minute, and told Angelique that a night at the theater would be something fun and exciting to do for their anniversary. She agreed, but of course had no idea what other tricks he had up his sleeve for the evening.

During intermission, Jason got down on one knee in the middle of the lobby, and Angelique said yes! Word of the proposal quickly spread backstage, and everyone pulled together to make their night even more special.

Just before the encore of the show's title song, Kate Baldwin, who plays "Pistache", congratulated the couple from the stage, "I heard that our love story tonight was merely the backdrop for a real live love story that happened in the lobby at intermission. One lucky man proposed to one lucky lady. Mon Petit Chou, where are you?" The crowd erupted in spirited applause, congratulating the happy couple.

Kate and the rest of the company greeted the couple backstage with open arms and words of congratulations. Everyone was so excited to be a part of this couple's special night! Jason Danieley, who plays "Aristide Forestier," was especially tickled because his 17th anniversary with his wife, Marin Mazzie, was the following day - and he had also just received a show-stopping standing ovation for his performance of Cole Porters' beautiful love song "I Am In Love."

This romantic, high-kicking love story ends its run October 26th at the Paper Mill Playhouse, so get your tickets now! And if you're planning a proposal, do let us know when you order your tickets so we can help you celebrate!"

The CAN-CAN performance schedule is as such: 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 7 p.m. Sunday, with 1:30 p.m. matinees Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.Tickets: $28 to $99.
