According to the Daily Mail, The Book of Mormon opened last night at the Prince of Wales Theatre with ticket sales of £9 million. And as reported by Baz Bamigboye, the West End's 2013 season shows are drawing steady crowds across the board.

Julian Bird, chief executive of the Society of London Theatre, told the Mail that this is partly due to West End producers waiting until after the conclusion of the 2012 Olympics.

"We're at a great time, with record advances, and it's partly due to what happened in 2012 and major stars and writers wanting to work in the theatre," said Bird. "It's a golden period."

The National Theatre's The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time has drawn £3 million in ticket sales at the Apollo Theatre. Next door, The Audience boasts an advance of more than £4 million. Peter And Alice at the Noel Coward, Quartermaine's Terms at Wyndham's Theatre and The Bodyguard at the Adelphi are all packing houses.
