"It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of State Supreme Court Justice Christopher Mega, who grew up in Borough Park and became a favorite son of Dyker Heights and one of Brooklyn's most prolific public servants. I was proud to represent Brooklyn in the Legislature alongside Justice Mega, who represented the 50th Assembly District and then the 21st and 23rd Districts in the Senate until he was designated as Chief Judge of the State Court of Claims.

While serving in Albany and from the bench, Chris always found time to give back to his beloved Brooklyn-as a visionary in early childhood education and among the first to bring Pre-K programs to Community School District 20, as one of the earliest supporters of the Ragamuffin Parade and the Bay Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Organization and as a leader in several community organizations, including the Dyker Heights Civic Association and Bay Ridge Lions Club.

Our prayers and thoughts go out to Justice Mega's wife, Madelyn, children, grandchildren and colleagues, and I hope they will be comforted by the thoughts and prayers of millions of Brooklynites and New Yorkers grateful for his outstanding service."
