Prolific playwright, Anthony J. Piccione adds another thought-provoking drama to his eclectic canon of works. WHAT I LEFT BEHIND explores teen suicide, its impact, and repercussions it has on those left behind.

THE PLOT: The play focuses on a young high school student, in severe depression brought on by bullying at the hands of classmates, who shocks everyone by taking his own life. In a unique retelling of the events leading up to the decision, we see what - and who - brought him to make this life-ending move ... and how they are forced to deal with it.

WHAT I LEFT BEHIND will be directed by Sarah Jane Schostack, (Lincoln Center, New York Theatre Workshop, 12.14 Foundation, Samuel French Short Play Festival, among others) and will be part of a night of one-acts within the festival.

Anthony J. Piccione, whose star is on the rise, has an impressive list of productions bearing his name. He saved the planet with a play about being green in An Energy Tale while another play, Ebol-a-Rama, looks - with biting satire - at this quite deadly issue. Additionally, Ebol-A-Rama was published at Heuer Publishing (www.hitplays.com). A recent reading, A Therapy Session with Myself, presented at the Dramatists Guild Foundation, tells the story of a young college student and aspiring writer dealing with severe social anxiety, depression and Asperger's syndrome. This piece is looking for a home. Other NYC venues that featured his works have been the Midtown International Theatre Festival, NYWinterfest, Manhattan Repertory Theatre, as well as regional venues like Playhouse on Park, Hole in the Wall Theatre, Windsor Art Center, and Windham Theatre Guild.
