A reading of the new play The Wonderful Mr. and Mrs. O'Leary will be performed today, January 8, 2015 at Shetler Studios.

The latest play by Matte O'Brien (White Noise, Peter & I, Anne of Green Gables), The Wonderful Mr. and Mrs. O'Leary was previously developed at The Actor's Company Theater.

Tony Award-winner Alice Ripley (Next to Normal) will reprise her role as Colleen McDowell joined by Broadway's Aaron Lazar (The Last Ship, LES MISERABLES), Caroline Rosenblum (Impressionism, 30 Rock), and Sebastian Hedges Thomas (Kinky Boots).

Directed by David Alpert (If/Then, The Trip to Bountiful), the play tells the story of Ellie and Patrick McDowell, a pair of restless siblings who occupy themselves by navigating their mother's insecurities, her latest boyfriend's shifting moods, and the doldrums of their small Louisiana town. All hope of escaping the reality of their situation seems lost until an after-school job materializes - babysitting for The Wonderful Mr. & Mrs. O'Leary. This darkly comic play reveals the power of imagination in the indefinite space between childhood and adulthood.

Matte O'Brien's previous work includes White Noise, a rock musical produced by Whoopi Goldberg, which had commercial runs at Le Petit Theatre in the French Quarter of New Orleans and the Royal George Theater in Chicago. His musical Peter and I enjoyed a sold out Off Broadway run as part of The Araca Project, and his new musical Anne of Green Gables is slated for a development workshop this spring.

Produced by Tate Theatrics and Rope Swing Entertainment, this invite-only reading of The Wonderful Mr. and Mrs. O'Leary will take place today, January 8th at Shetler Studios with two presentations at 1pm and 4:30pm. Limited seating is still available and can be requested by emailing olearyreading@tatetheatrics.com.
