The results are in: The New York Times, Time Out New York, New York Magazine, and The New Yorker all put Alan Gilbert and the Philharmonic at the top of their lists of cultural highlights of the year 2010. Citing Mr. Gilbert's "youthful vigor and bold initiatives," the Philharmonic's May production of Ligeti's Le Grand Macabre was called, "the greatest triumph achieved by any New York musical institution in 2010," and an "audacious" event and "bold gesture," which had audience members delivering "full-throated ovations."
