In the last month, veteran actors from stage and screen actors have taken to YouTube to express the need for increase wages for Off-Broadway actors.

Over 1,000 members of Actors' Equity Associations have signed a letter seeking a pay increase for actors with an Off-Broadway contract.

The current contract is set to expire on November 6, 2016.

The campaign that has earned the attention of various actors is called #FairWageOnStage. It was launched by members of AEA. The videos on their YouTube page highlight personal stories of actors who have made or make their livings in the Off-Broadway community.

According to #FairWageOnStage, 63% of Off-Broadway contracts pay actors $593 a week. In a survey conducted by AEA earlier this year, members said that they could not live in New York City on these wages.
