Actor Roberts Blossom, perhaps best known for his role in the hit holiday film Home Alone opposite Macaulay Culkin, passed away July 8th. He was 87 years old.

Blossom was born in New Haven, Connecticut and began acting on stage during the 1950s. He made his Broadway debut in 1958's 'The Infernal Machine' and continued to frequent the stage for the next two decades until he began to make his mark in the film industry. He led the 1974 film 'Deranged' and that same year appeared in 'The Great Gatsby' with Robert Redford and Mia Farrow.

Blossom arguably made his biggest impression, however, as the misunderstood elderly neighbor who becomes a friend to Macaulay in 1990's 'Home Alone.' The film spawned three sequels and ranks among the top one hundred grossing films worldwide.

Blossom is survived by daughter Deborah and son Michael.
