ACID'S REIGN, Drag Climate Musical, to Play Edinburgh Fringe at Pleasance Courtyard
Relish Theatre's production will perform at Pleasance Forth, blending queer activism with powerhouse vocals.
Relish Theatre, in association with Pleasance, will present ACID'S REIGN at the 2026 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The new drag climate musical will run at Pleasance Courtyard's Forth venue from August 5-31, excluding August 12.
Blending original music, drag performance, comedy, and climate activism, ACID'S REIGN follows a radical drag supergroup formed in 2019 to confront the climate crisis through performance. Years later, as public attention fades and funding dries up, the group faces a difficult choice: remain committed to their activism or embrace commercial success in order to stay visible.
The production stars Victoria Scone as Alex Acid and features Scarlett Harlett as Dina Mite, Gigi Zahir as Ria Listic, Sé Carr and Jamie Fuxx sharing the role of Micky Steele, and Ash Weir as Olive Branch.
Performed with a live band and featuring 11 original songs, the musical explores the intersections of activism, community, performance, and identity through a distinctly queer lens.
The book and lyrics are by Luke Howarth and Evie Fehilly, with music and musical direction by Gabriel Chernick. The original concept was created by James McDermott and Rob Ellis, with Howarth also directing the production.
The creative team includes producer Morag Davies for Relish Theatre, assistant producer Ella Dale, production manager Pete Rickards for eStage, choreographer David Allwood, Costume Designer Harry Whitfield, set designers Good Teeth, lighting designer Catja Hamilton, sound designer Dan Samson, casting director Nick Hockaday, and artist wellbeing practitioner Lou Platt.
Prior to its Edinburgh run, ACID'S REIGN will play preview performances at Pleasance London from July 3-11, including a gala performance on July 9.
