The producers of A Jew Grows in Brooklyn have announced a Bar/Bat Mitzvah Photo Contest. Starting on March 24th, audience members who bring one of their Bar/Bat Mitzvah photos to a performance will be eligible to win a gift certificate to Ben's Deli. One certificate will be given to a lucky winner at every performance during the ten-week run of the show.

The certificates--of which 80 will be given--are valid from May 1st to August 31st at any of Ben's eight locations.

A Jew Grows in Brooklyn, written by and starring Jake Ehrenreich, and directed by Jon Huberth, begins previews on March 24th for an April 10th opening at The American Theatre of Actors (Chernuchin Theatre), located at 314 West 54th St. in NYC.  The show will play through May 28th.

"A Jew Grows in Brooklyn is an innovative and delightful new musical comedy that tells the autobiographical story of Jake Ehrenreich's first generation American journey. Through sometimes poignant, often times hysterical stories about his family, Jake weaves together haimish wisdom and a hip modern sensibility to create an entertaining and touching two hours of comedy and song," state press notes.

"The show features a diverse array of music, from Rock to Broadway to Yiddish Theater. Jake is joined on stage by four talented musician/singers, who together celebrate the quintessential Borscht Belt style and even recreate their nationally televised performance of 'Meet the Mets!'"

Ehrenreich has performed on Broadway in Dancin', Barnum, and They're Playing Our Song and toured internationally as Ringo in Beatlemania. He created the role of Jonah in Jonah for Joseph Papp at The Public Theater and performed Off-Broadway in Songs of Paradise and The Golden Land. He has also been a featured vocalist at The Rainbow Room, recorded with Richie Havens and performed at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

Joining Ehrenreich on stage will be musicians Todd Isler, Zvi Klein, Mark Muller and Elysa Sunshine. Joseph Egan is the show's set designer.

Performances run Tuesdays-Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 3pm & 8pm and Sundays at 3pm & 7pm. There is a special opening night performance on Mon. 4/10. (no matinee performances 3/25 & 4/1 and no evening performances 4/12 & 5/27). Tickets are $48.50 for adults and $25 for seniors and students with valid ID and can be purchased by calling 212-352-3101 or visiting  www.theatermania.com. For group sales, call (212) 889-4300.
