8th Annual LIC Arts Open Announces Music, Dance, and Performances

For 8 years Long Island City has been host to what has become the largest arts festival in Queens, the LIC Arts Open! Each year the LIC artistic community comes together for an expansive, accessible, and fabulous celebration of their work.

LIC Arts Open's central focus is always on the visual arts but we make sure to keep spaces open for performance art pieces. This year we have a very exciting collection of individual performers and music groups to add to our ever-growing line-up!

Our Kick-off Concert features new string quartets from the Queens College New Music Group on May 16th 8pm at The Secret Theatre 44-02 23rd St. The 8th Annual Launch Party will include a performances from Karesia Batan's SITE MOVES on May 16th 7-10pm at the Plaxall Gallery 5-25 46th Ave. Throughout the festival we will have 15 concerts and events that have live music.

The Breakroom @ The Factory 30-30 47th Ave on May 17th at 7pm Lauren Elder, Broadway performer and singer-songwriter, will be opening the evening with music from her recent album. At 8pm she will be followed by Pat Irwin and Brian Cavanaugh-Strong, both distinguished composers and musicians, will be performing Music for Electric Guitar and Piano.

The Plastique Trois Reception will have a rare performance from SUSS, an ambient country band, at the Anable Basin Event Space 4-40 44th Dr May 18th 7-11pm.

Musical Make-em Ups will be appearing for their 8th year at LIC Arts Open with a new family musical improv extravaganza at The Plaxall Gallery on May 19th at 3pm.

The Really HUGE Closing Party, which will be entertained with Latin dance party music from Niko Andres & LaMar NYC feat. Matt Geraghty. This event will be held 43-01 21st St / 1A from 6.30-10pm.

All exhibitions, parties, shows, and events (except the Garden Party) have FREE admission.
