My life as a Hub.

I have had a lot of people asking me what it's like to be a Hub so, I decided to commandeer this computer, which is no easy task because the employees spend most of their time on YouTube and BroadwayWorld...I mean helping guests...but I digress. I guess I should start at the beginning. I used to be a bank, which I can sum up in one word...SUCKTASTIC! I mean if you thought that theater patrons complained you should hear bank customers.

"You can't charge me these fees!"

"You can't take away my house!"

Le sigh…

Well the bank got evicted and now I am NYMF Hub. How's that for irony? We are the 99%! Occupy 42nd Street!

What is NYMF Hub you ask? Well I am a centralized box office and performance space for the New York Musical Theater Festival. We produce 30 new musicals in 3 weeks in 6 Off-Broadway locations.

I think that's pretty clear.

Oh wait it's not. What is very clear though is that my new state of the art theatrical lighting attracts some crazies. For example, no, we don't have tickets to Spider-man. Oh, you want me to get them for you? Sure, let me call Julie Taymor's lawyers and see if I can hook you up…NOT. Just go see Re- Animator and be done with it.

Some of my favorite times have been at the Talkbacks. Baby Case brought in an FBI agent to talk about the Linburgh baby and many of our other wonderful productions have given talks and performances to give great insight behind the musicals themselves. I also really enjoy the late night concerts and events like "Pride on Broadway" and "In My Other Life" where I got to learn about what the behind-the-scenes people at NYMF do when they are not working for me! Basically, they sing showtunes. The educational panels have taught me so much about writing and producing shows that I'm already working on my submission for next year. It's called Hub! The Musical.

I hope you come see me before the festival ends and I turn back into a pumpkin or a bank or who knows what. Before then, you can get free coffee everyday (Thanks to Dunkin' Donuts!) and day-of discounts for many of the shows in the festival.

And that's my life. Follow me on twitter to hear more of my adventures @NYMFHub and meet our new mascot, Hubbie the Hedgehog!
