Nominations in 26 competitive categories for the American Theatre Wing's 64th Annual Antoinette Perry "Tony"® Awards were announced on May 4, 2010 by Broadway Star Lea Michele and Tony Award Nominee Jeff Daniels.

The Antoinette Perry "Tony" Awards are bestowed annually on theatre professionals for distinguished achievement. The Tony is one of the most coveted awards in the entertainment industry and the annual telecast is considered one of the most prestigious programs on television.

Denzel Washington ("Troy Maxson" in Fences) Denzel Washington returns to Broadway for the first time since starring in Julius Caesar (2005). He made his Broadway debut in Checkmates  (1988). Other theatre credits include Richard III, The Mighty Gents, Ceremonies in Dark Old Men, When the Chickens Come Home to Roost and A Soldier’s Play, for which he won an Obie. He is a two-time Academy Award™ winner for his performances in Training Day and Glory, and received Oscar nominations for his performances in The Hurricane, Malcolm X and Cry Freedom. His other films include The Book of Eli, The Taking of Pelham 123, The Great Debaters  (directed), Inside Man, Déjà Vu, American Gangster, The Manchurian Candidate, Out of Time, Man on Fire, Antwone Fisher (directed), John Q, Remember the Titans, The Bone Collector, Fallen, He Got Game, The Siege, Courage Under Fire, Crimson Tide, Devil in a Blue Dress, Much Ado About Nothing, Philadelphia, The Pelican Brief and A Soldier’s Story. Liev Schreiber was nominated for a Tony Award for his portrayal of Barry Champlain in Eric Bogosian's Talk Radio, directed by Robert Fall and received the award for his performance in David Mamet's Glengarry GLen Ross, directed by Joe Mantello. Other stage work: Macbeth  (Shakespeare in the Park, directed by Moises Kaufman). Film/TV: Taking Woodstock, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Defiance, The Painted Veil, "Lackawanna Blues," The Manchurian Candidate, The Sum of All Fears, Kate & Leopold, The Hurricane, Hamlet, "RKO 281" (Emmy and Golden Globe nominations), Spring Forward, A Walk on the Moon, Mixed Nuts, "The Sunshine Boys," and the Scream trilogy. With a career that spans numerous plays and musicals and over 50 feature films, Christopher Walken remains one of today's most iconoclastic and legendary actors. He has previously appeared on Broadway in The Lion in Winter, The Rose Tattoo and James Joyce's The Dead, for which he received a Tony Award® nomination. His film highlights include an Oscar-winning performance in The Deer Hunter, an Oscar nomination for Catch Me If You Can and acclaimed roles in Annie Hall, Pulp Fiction and Biloxi Blues.
