There is virtually nothing in the world of show business that Kaye Ballard and Liliane Montevecchi haven't left their mark on - acting, singing, story-telling, comedy, cabaret, dancing. . . in movies, on TV and performing live on stage - they've done it all. These legendary stars have over a century of artistic experience between them and, when I caught up with them between rehearsals for their upcoming show at the Lensic Performing Arts center in Santa Fe, it was abundantly clear that they show no signs of slowing down.

It doesn't happen often, but in 1981 a group of talented actors put on a little show about waitresses and garage guys. Then, in 1982 it moved to Broadway where it ran for more than 570 performances. 'Pump Boys and Dinettes' has been performed frequently around the USA ever since, and this August, director Daryl Streeter will bring the delightful musical to the ADOBE Theater for a dozen performances.

Since he first hitched a ride out of his native Lubbock a good 40 years ago, he's been traveling highways and back roads across America and Europe, playing his hit tunes like 'Dallas,' 'She Never Spoke Spanish To Me,' 'Me and Billy The Kid' and 'West Texas Waltz' at countless stops in between. To stay sane on the road, he's consistently penned verses that sometimes morphed into songs, and other times remained 'snapshots of what was flying by, just out of reach, so as to savor at a later date when the wheels stop rolling....'

Yonkers, NY is city just north of the Bronx, where playwright Neil Simon was born on the 4th of July, 85 years ago. He has chronicled family life in the Great Depression and after in a series of prize-winning plays, musicals and films. His frequent theme shows 'likeable people in difficult situations.' His 1991 Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy, 'Lost In Yonkers,' will be presented at the ADOBE Theater for four weekends, starting June 28. Director Heather Lovick-Tolley chose to direct this somewhat painful comedy in celebration of Simon's longevity as a celebrated American playwright.
