Arguably the greatest era in American musical history comes to life at the Spencer Theater April 8th at 8 p.m. with the big brass sounds and joyful vocals of Holly Larocuque and the Mark Ferguson Orchestra. In a performance entitled The Big Band Broadcast, this 13-piece orchestra swings to life with the high-powered tunes from the golden age of live concert radio broadcasts from starlit ballrooms. Packed with elegant musicianship, panache and humor, this will be a sentimental journey into one of those stellar evenings of long ago when glamour was king and big bands ruled the airwaves.

Featuring four trumpets, four trombone's, three saxophones, a clarinet, piano and drums, Ferguson's orchestra performs blazing solos and delightful choreography in 1940's classics like One For My Baby (And One More For The Road), Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, La Vie En Rose, Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree, Stardust, In the Mood, and Stuff Like That There. The program is packed with slick arrangements, gorgeous costuming and entertainingly "vital" commercial spots from vintage sponsors.

The broadcast's driving rhythms, retro-hip styles, swinging dance moves and clever commercials (written by Ferguson and Larocque) are strung together by the suave, if slightly unpredictable Radio Announcer - just as in days of lore.
Excellent seats are available for $59 & $56 to this live broadcast of big band music! Call the Spencer Box Office at 575.336.4800 or go online to www.spencertheater.com for tickets today!
