Winfrey announced in 2009 that the last Orpah Winfrey Show would air on May 25, 2011. In January of 2011, she launched the OWN television network. It is expected that she will remain on television in a new program to air on OWN. Still, Oprah's farewell show, taped this week in Chicago's United Center, attracted many a celebrity and emotional goodbyes to mark the end of her talk show reign. Over the past 25 years, The Oprah Winfrey Show has become the highest-rated program of its kind in history under Winfrey's leadership.
