Joel Zwick Inducted in Madison HS Hall of Fame

Joel Zwick returned to his alma mater, James Madison High School, on May 16, 2010 as an honoree for the school's 'Wall of Distinction', according to The NY Post. The award is given annually to famous alumni of the Brooklyn public school. In addition to Zwick, Madison's other 2010 honorees include the late Cal Abrams, Judith Blun Sheindlin (aka Judge Judy), Maury Allen and Deborah Tobias Poritz, among others.

Zwick said of the award, "It's more emotional than I thought it would be". He regaled of the band that him and fellow alum, Carole King formed together. King was inducted in Madison's wall in 2004.

Joel Zwick directed the Oscar-nominated comedy My Big Fat Greek Wedding. He was the artistic director for the Broadway, Off-Broadway, and touring companies of LA MAMA PLEXUS AT La Mama E.T.C. Zwick recieved a Tony nomination for his direction of the Broadway production of DANCE WITH ME. Other theatre credits include: SHENANDOAH, the national tour of OKLAHOMA!, and COLD STORAGE at the American Palace Theatre. In 2008, Zwick directed the one-man show BEETHOVEN AS I KNEW HIM. Zwick has taught drama at Yale University, Brooklyn College, Queens College and Wheaton College.

James Madison High School is a public high school located in Brooklyn, New York, servicing grades 9 through 12. Built over 75 years ago, the school has graduated four Nobel Prize Winners, famous musicians, authors, politicians, sport figures and a current United States Supreme Court Justice.
