Actor and songstress Sandy Bainum, a longtime friend of Signature Theatre and cast member of this winter's production of Gypsy - will celebrate the launch of her new CD Simply with a special one-night-only concert and signing event at the theatre on the evening of Monday, November 18 at 7:30pm. Admission to the event is free, with a suggested donation of $30 by cash or check. All proceeds from the evening benefit Only Make Believe (OMB), a New York City and Washington DC based non-profit organization that brings the arts into hospitals and care facilities for children suffering from chronic illnesses and disabilities.

Members of OMB will be on-site beginning at 7pm to showcase the work offered by the organization in a brief pre-show performance. The main concert begins at 7:30pm in the MAX Theatre, with Bainum backed by a six-piece band.

A CD launch party in the Mead lobby will follow the live concert, with light drinks and refreshments provided. Copies of Simply will be available for purchase for $15, with all proceeds benefiting OMB. Reservations can be made through the Signature Box Office by phone (703 820 9771) or in person beginning Monday, November 4.

Sandy Bainum's newest album is filled with truly memorable tunes from the Great American Songbook and beyond: from the joyous "A Cockeyed Optimist" (South Pacific) and the glorious "Goodnight, My Someone" (The Music Man) to the pop hit "You and Me Against the World" and the electric "On the Other Side of the Tracks" (Little Me), Bainum's newest collection exemplifies timeless, straightforward sentiments and beautiful melodies with simple yet universal emotions. Whether joyous, rueful, funny or hopeful, they are musical moments filled with warmth, heart, humor and joy... simply enchanting.

The new CD was recorded in Los Angeles with a phenomenal 34-piece orchestra and arranged and conducted by Sandy's award-winning musical director Lanny Meyers. The legendary Bruce Kimmel served as producer. Mr. Kimmel also serves as director and musical director for the Nov 18 concert at Signature. Simply and Sandy's acclaimed holiday album This Christmas are available at www.kritzerland.com.

A regular on the Washington, D.C. theatre scene, Sandy Bainum made her Broadway debut in David Merrick's legendary production of 42nd Street. She has since performed leading roles in most of Washington's top theatres including the Kennedy Center, Washington Savoyards, Signature Theatre and Ford's Theater. She has appeared in productions including Jason Robert Brown's Parade, an innovative production of Hamlet for DC's Fringe Festival, and as Peggy Lee in the world premiere production of Ladies Swing the Blues. For Signature Theatre, Sandy participated in a reading of the new musical version of Beaches and recently appeared as Susan in their acclaimed production of Company. She regularly performs her cabaret concerts at top venues in New York, DC and Los Angeles. For more information on Sandy Bainum, visit www.sandybainum.com.
