ShenanArts presents Footloose today, August 1st - 3rd & 8th - 10th, Fridays and Saturdays at 7 pm, Sundays at 3 pm.

Join us as we celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of this classic story, unforgettable music and dynamic dancing. Thirty years ago, Kevin Bacon taught the youth of Bomont and the nation that kids just want to dance. Footloose made its big screen debut in 1984, and became a box office hit. Nominated for an Oscar award for best song, the movie captured the hearts and imaginations and dancing feet of a generation. Now, thirty years later, through the talented company at ShenanArts, Footloose returns to our community in the beautiful nTelos Theater at Gypsy Hill Place in Staunton, VA.

With score by Tom Snow, lyrics by Dean Pitchford and Kenny Loggins, and book by Dean Pitchford and Walter Bobbie, the ShenanArts production is directed by Hank Fitzgerald. Matthew Grandpre is musical director, and Chelsie Burks is choreographer. The show stars Ian Charles as Ren McCormack and Tara Stoll as Ariel Moore. Footloose tells the story of high schooler Ren McCormack, who moves from Chicago to the small farming town of Bomont. The dance-loving city boy is greeted with a local ban on dancing, set by the town's Reverend Moore, portrayed by Shenanarts verteran Jeff Ryman, who is determined to 'protect' the local youth from the evils of rock 'n' roll. Kids will be kids, and, predictably, Reverend Moore's rebellious daughter, Ariel, falls in love with troublemaker Ren. Ren takes on Ariel's boyfriend, the Reverend, and the city council; the result will change Bomont forever. Join the fun and kick off your Sunday shoes!
