Weston Playhouse Presents FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, 8/2-25

Fiddler on the Roof is the Tony Award®-winning smash that has delighted audiences around the world for generations. And now, it returns to Weston Playhouse Theatre Company for a mid-summer run from August 2nd through 25th to transport audiences all over again with its unforgettable tale of family and love, narrated by the inimitable Tevye the milkman.

This is one show with something for everyone. The much-loved songs will fill you with joy, the soaring story of tradition will give you hope, and the rousing dance numbers will leave you nothing short of amazed.

David Brummel (Tevye) is a veteran Broadway actor who toured Fiddler on the Roof as the cover for Topol (star of the London production and film) and has played the role on his own at other theatres.  He has extensive Broadway, National Tour and Off Broadway credits and has had a recurring role on TV's Law and Order. Also featured – in the role of Golde – will be Joanna Glushak, who recently played the same role in the Barrington Stage production, and has been seen on Broadway in Urinetown, Les Miserables, and Sunday in the Park with George.

Based on the stories of Sholem Aleichem, Fiddler features music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick and a book by Joseph Stein. The heart-warming score includes such cherished songs as “Tradition,” “If I Were a Rich Man,” “Sunrise, Sunset” and “Matchmaker.”

The production is directed by Malcolm Ewen (one of Weston’s own producing directors). The cast includes Weston favorites and Broadway veterans Harry Katzman, Barbara Lloyd, Mike Maloney, Georga Osbourne, Emma Rosenthal, Geoffrey Wade, and Sharon Wheatley. The creative team also features Choreographer Jacob Brent, Music Director Rob Meffe, Scenic Designer Russell Parkman, Lighting Designer Stuart Duke, Costume Designer Karen Ledger, Sound Designer Ed Chapman, and Stage Manager Melissa Spengler.

Choreographer Jacob Brent will be recreating the famEd Jerome Robbins choreography for the show, which was the choreography used in the original production, and Music Director Rob Meffe has re-orchestrated the music to incorporate the authentic and haunting sounds of traditional Klezmer music. This music will be performed in Weston's new orchestra pit – open again for the first time since it was ravaged by flooding from tropical storm Irene last summer.

Tickets for Fiddler on the Roof start at $25. For additional information and to reserve seats, call The Playhouse box office at 802-824-5288 or visit the theatre’s website at westonplayhouse.org.

Dinner is available by reservation at the theatre’s Cafe at the Falls restaurant.  After the show head down to The Cabaret, Weston's late night hot spot, featuring the classic variety acts that have been a staple of The Cabaret in years past.  Cabaret performances follow all evening MainStage performances of Fiddler on the Roof.  Seating is limited and reservations are highly recommended.

Beginning August 16 at Weston’s OtherStages venue is Bad Dates, a hilarious one-woman show about a single mother reentering the dating scene. Written by Theresa Rebeck, creator and executive producer of the new NBC hit television show “Smash,” this is one show that will have you rolling in the aisles. Coming up on the MainStage is Weston’s production of the world premiere musical Pregnancy Pact, an energetic rock musical from some of the hottest young musical composers.
