Dorset Theatre Festival plans to produce two exciting special events on the Playhouse stage this month. Brian Dykstra, an actor, playwright, and HBO Def Poet currently playing Moriarty in the DTF production of Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Jersey Lily will perform his one man show Brian Dykstra Selling Out, directed by Sherlock director Margarett Perry, on July 14th at 8:00 PM. On July 19th, Howard Fishman, a Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter, will make his Dorset debut after sold-out performances at the Vermont Arts Exchange and The Flynn.

Brian Dykstra, known to regional audiences for his performance in the 2012 DTF production of Good People is excited to perform the show in light of recent events. "It's always interesting to do the show after major political developments, such as the recent Supreme Court Decision that keeping the air clean is too expensive." says writer/performer Brian Dykstra. Selling Out is a piece which blends stand-up comedy, storytelling, slam poetry, and down-home preaching to create a highly charged and hilarious new solo comedy which questions everything from the corrupting influence of money to the pursuit of happiness. "We are so proud to be presenting Brian's solo performance as part of our 2015 season," says Dina Janis, Artistic Director. "Brian is a wonderful writer and performer, and we've been fortunate to work with him on several projects over the past few seasons, along with Margaret Perry, his wonderful director who we are thrilled to have with us this season directing Sherlock."

Howard Fishman, a critically-acclaimed singer, guitarist, composer and bandleader, has performed alongside such diverse artists as Andrew Bird, Yo Yo Ma, and Madeleine Peyroux in the most prestigious venues in the US and abroad including the Lincoln Center and The Flynn Arts Center. He has recently headlined the Augustibluus Festival in Estonia and Storyville in Helsinki. "DTF is so excited to be hosting such an accomplished and talented musician this summer," says Janis. "Special events such as this allow us to engage with even more members of the regional arts community." The concert will be co-presented with the Vermont Arts Exchange, where Fishman has performed before to a sold-out house.

Brian Dysktra Selling Out will be performed on Tuesday, July 14th at 8:00 PM at the Dorset Playhouse. Tickets are $20, and a content advisory is in effect (Strong Adult Content, not recommended for children under 17). Howard Fishman in Concert, presented in collaboration with the Vermont Arts Exchange, will take place at the Dorset Playhouse on Sunday, July 19th at 8:00 pm. Tickets are $25.
