Snow White to be given a Yorkshire twist in spectacular new version by Tell Tale Hearts and aerial theatre pioneers Pif Paf.

The critically acclaimed Tell Tale Hearts and outdoor visual and aerial theatre pioneers, Pif-Paf are set to join forces with The Lawrence Batley Theatre this Christmas to breath high spirited winter magic into the heart of every family with a fantastic and poignant Yorkshire twist on the much loved fairy-tale Snow White.

The must-see Christmas treat will be taking up residence at the Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield from Friday 11 December to Sunday 27 December.

A lonely child with an eye for adventure. A scorned stepmother. A magical mirror. A brass band of musical miners...

This playful and vividly inventive twist on the Brothers Grimm fairytale is set amidst Yorkshire's striking landscape. A pit wheel is transformed by a brass band of magical miners 'The Coalface Crocodiles' becoming a spinning stage for the scorned stepmother - singing diva Mystique Stardust- as well as the miner's home, Snowy's stable and a perilous chase across the moors. The Coalface Crocs set the story in motion all in a quest to discover how to free their beloved Snow White from Mystique's magical mirror.

Following national acclaim for The Snow Queen, the LBT's resident children's company Tell Tale Hearts return to the main stage in a playful, dynamic collaboration with performance and visual theatre pioneers, Pif-Paf, weaving aerial feats, live music, shadow puppetry and comedy into an unforgettable Christmas treat for all ages.

Adapted for the stage by Natasha Holmes and Eleanor Hooper, the artistic directors of Tell Tale Hearts and Pif-Paf respectively, the beautifully crafted production is designed by Peter Gunson and Eleanor Hooper, and features music composed and arranged by Jack Stoddard with lighting by Lars Jensen.

Tell Tale Heart's artistic director Natasha Holmes said about the new production

'Tell Tale Hearts are passionate about putting children at the heart of what we do. We want to reach all children whether that be in schools, nurseries, theatres, community venues or the outdoors without compromising on the quality of the experience. Pif-Paf are one of the most pioneering & exciting companies on the outdoor theatre circuit at the moment. We are fans of their poetic & maverick theatrical style and have been brewing this collaboration for three years. Snow White is the perfect story to bring our shared strengths together; whether it be weaving aerial feats into a Yorkshire moors chase or introducing a brass playing band of ex miners with earthy charm who rescue Snow White from the dangerous jealousy of her singing diva step mother Mystique Stardust! It is a story for our times; as our plucky heroine Snow White, with the love and courage of her friends, is able to find herself and overcome the corrupting forces of fame and envy.

'We have used our inclusive research process to draw out the best ideas from children to help inform a new take on the much loved story. For instance in our version Snow White is not encased in a crystal coffin but trapped in her step mother's magic mirror, caught in a maze of reflections. Working with Pif-Paf has given us a fantastic transformational structure from which we can weave aerial feats, live music and shadow puppetry in a truly thrilling experience for all the family that will keep you guessing right to the end!'
