The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) is offering amateur and semi-professional theatre groups, and schools and colleges the opportunity to put on a play by Shakespeare or his contemporaries at The Dell, the Company's open air performance space in Stratford-upon-Avon, on Saturdays and Sundays throughout summer 2014.

Now in its ninth year, The Dell provides a great platform for these groups to work with the RSC and to present their work to a large audience. Last summer's season of open air theatre at The Dell saw over 9000 people watch 48 performances by 19 theatre companies, schools, universities and community groups.

The Dell Co-ordinator Nicola Salmon said:

"The Dell offers amateur and semi-professional theatre companies and schools and colleges the chance to perform at and work with the RSC.

"In addition to providing a stage we also offer opportunities for companies to promote their performances and take part in a skills workshop with one of our professional theatre practitioners.

"Last year The Dell enjoyed another successful season, and included companies such as the Royal Navy Theatre Association performing Henry V, and The Handlebards who brought us Twelfth Night as part of a 926 mile tour of the UK, all on 4 bicycles!"

Performance times at The Dell are available on Saturdays and Sundays from 7 June to 31 August 2014. There are two performance slots a day, although the exact time of each performance may vary.

Anyone interested in performing at The Dell will need to submit an application form which can be downloaded from the RSC's website: www.rsc.org.uk/thedell

The closing date for receipt of completed applications is Friday 21 March 2014.
