Transports by Jon Welch will play the Tristan Bates Theatre in Covent Garden, 16-21 September 2013.

In the late seventies a sociopathic fifteen year old finds herself shunted into her final foster home. Her widowed foster mother has a hint of a foreign accent, verbal diarrhoea and a trunk full of secrets. As youth plays cat and mouse with age, two parallel sets of revelations collide, with devastating consequences.

Inspired by the experiences of designer Alan Munden's mother, who was on the last Kindertransport to England during the war, the production weaves together two razor-sharp performances with film, a sumptuously evocative underscore and a striking stage design of two monolithic, life-size, vertical railway tracks. Transports is by turns funny and moving, and a journey not quickly forgotten.

Written and directed by Jon Welch, with design by Alan and Jude Munden. Cast: Juliet Welch and Anna Munden.

The show runs Monday 16 - Saturday 21 September at 7.30pm at the Tristan Bates Theatre, 1A Tower Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9NP. For tickets, visit www.tristanbatestheatre.co.uk or call 020 7240 6283.
