Neil Labute's AUTOBAHN Comes to the King's Head Theatre, Now thru Sept 20

Regarded as one of the most celebrated American playwrights, Neil LaBute has enthralled audiences all over the world with his layered characters, sharp dialogue and subtle social commentaries. Now, in a London premiere, acclaimed American theatre company Savio(u)r will present his play Autobahn, directed by Off-West End Award nominee Tim Sullivan.

This short-play cycle follows colourful, complicated people making their way across America's highways and their stops, starts, and stalls along the way in seven one-act plays, utilising LaBute's flair for the dark and sinister as exemplified by his classics The Shape of Things and Bash.

Director Tim Sullivan says: 'I've always been a fan of LaBute's writing - he's consistently one of America's most exciting playwrights. We're thrilled to be bringing Autobahn to English audiences for the first time. These snapshots of witty, damaged, and complex characters from across the United States reveal the everyday contradictions and complications of modern life.' At its New York premiere, Autobahn boasted an all-star cast including Kevin Bacon, Susan Sarandon, Paul Rudd, Brian Dennehy, and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Savio(u)r's production of Our Town at the King's Head Theatre was selected as one of the Guardian's Top 10 Productions of 2013 and described as a one-of-a-kind theatrical gem (Time Out), while their Christmas double-bill of Thornton Wilder plays there was called theatrically fascinating (The Independent). Savio(u)r Theatre Company have just celebrated their 5th birthday and are dedicated to presenting work by American playwrights in the UK.

Performance Dates: Today, 27th August - Saturday 20th September, 7.15pm. Box Office Tickets are available from http://kingsheadtheatre.com/ and 0207 478 0160, priced at £25 (premium), £20.50 (full price), £17.25-15 (concessions), £10 (previews).

It was chosen as one of the Guardian's Top 10 Productions of the year. The company also produced two classic Wilder one-acts, The Happy Journey to Trenton and Camden and The Long Christmas Dinner at the King's Head in 2012. Savio(u)r led the 2011 Off-West End awards with six nominations for their world premiere production of At the Broken Places by Joseph Horton at the Cock Tavern Theatre.
