As True West opens at Sheffield's newly refurbished Crucible Theatre, Artistic Director Daniel Evans announces his second season - completing his first year of work at the venue.

The season begins in September with the company's Associate Director Paul Miller directing John Simm in the title role in Hamlet, then a co-production with The Bush and Birmingham Rep - the world première of DC Jackson's My Romantic History, a major revival of L. Arthur Rose, Douglas Furber and Noel Gay's classic musical Me and My Girl directed by Anna Mackmin, and completing the season in February 2011, a major retrospective of the works of David Hare - one of the most influential and prolific playwrights of post-war Britain. The David Hare Season plays across all three theatres and includes revivals of Racing Demon directed by Artistic Director Daniel Evans, Plenty directed by Thea Sharrock and The Breath of Life directed by Peter Gill, alongside a series of play readings, workshops, talks and interviews.

In addition, Frantic Assembly, in a co-production with the National Theatre of Scotland, will tour to Sheffield Theatres for the first time, with Beautiful Burnout. Other highlights of the season include What I Heard About the World - a Third Angel, mala voadora and Sheffield Theatres production, and Whatever Next! a children's co-production from tutti fruitti and York Theatre Royal.

Says Artistic Director Daniel Evans: "The Crucible Theatre reopened in February this year after a two-year redevelopment and I'm deeply encouraged by the fact that over 23,000 people saw the first three productions in our opening season. As we look ahead to the new season, I'm delighted to announce an ambitious and varied programme of work, including classical, physical and musical theatre. The David Hare season will be the first time that Sheffield Theatres has staged one playwright's work in each of its three venues - and I look forward to welcoming David to the city."
