Hold on to your bowler hats, the delightfully devilish acrobatic duo The English Gents are back this Christmas, along with quirky comedienne Mooky. Long-standing members of the La Soirée family, The English Gents have won hearts - and gasps -for their implausible London seasons with La Clique and La Soirée. New to the fold last year, Mooky has had audiences in stitches with her outrageous comedy antics.
These cult hit favourites of the cabaret circuit will join the strictly limited La Soirée at the Roundhouse season from 23rd November 2011.
THE ENGLISH GENTS Denis Lock and Hamish McCann are two cordial "English" gentlemen who perform inconceivable feats of acrobatic skill, strength and balance, whilst sporting the stiffest of British upper lips. The act mixes their highly-skilled stunts with a dry English wit, unexpectedly climaxing with the two hilariously baring what's under their bowler hats for Queen and country.
MOOKY
Renowned for her side-splitting physical comedy, Canadian-born Mooky Cornish is one of the funniest ladies working on the international circuit today. Irresistible and captivating, this quirky comedienne has entranced over a million spectators worldwide in both North America and Europe. Mooky's illustrious background includes being the lead clown and inspiration for Cirque du Soleil's recent bestselling production, Varekai. Among her many talents Mooky is a pianist, puppeteer,
mask maker, accordion squeezer and chicken trainer. ‘Is there anything she can't
do?' we hear you cry. Not likely.
A theatrical phenomenon, a unique and inspirational night of live entertainment, La Soirée's heady cocktail of cabaret, new burlesque, circus sideshow and contemporary variety has taken the world by storm. This troupe of artists first performed together in Edinburgh and has gone on to perform around the world, conquering Paris, Sydney, Stockholm and New York with their twisted take on
cabaret and variety. They are thrilled to be returning to London, the city where they performed sell-out seasons at The Hippodrome in 2008 (where they were part of the cast that won the Olivier Award for Best Entertainment), a record-breaking season at The Roundhouse in 2009 and the decadent South Bank Big Top in 2010.
