Jacksons Lane Spring season 2017 looks to be the busiest season in the venue's history, with over 150 days of performance, international work from Finland, Spain, Norway and France and exciting premieres including Here Lies Shakespeare, Ashes, Cul de Sac and Wow Hoop.

Jacksons Lane has been a creative and cultural hub for North London for 40 years and is the UK's leading supporter of contemporary circus. Through its Spring Season, this important venue is pioneering family circus, aiming to even get babies interacting with performance.

Artistic director, Adrian Berry comments, This programme cements our reputation as the UK's leading supporter and producer of visual theatre and contemporary circus, as well as no less than 10 UK premieres. We are thrilled to be welcoming thousands through our doors for this thrilling season of contemporary performance. It promises to be a captivating spectacle.

Highlights include:

Throwback (1st - 4th February)

Following huge success at the 2016 Edinburgh Fringe, Throwback returns to Jacksons Lane with its awe-inspiring aerial and acrobatic work, telling stories that are honest, emotional and absorbing. With world-class hand-balancing, tension straps (a brand new circus skill), Chinese pole, hula hooping, foot juggling and a fantastic hoop-diving sequence, the artists in Throwback balance, hang, sing, fly, catch, spin and throw their way through this fast-paced, feel-good explosion of physical skill and fun.

Wow Hoop (15th - 17th February)

A venue with circus at its heart, Jacksons Lane are trying to even get babies on board. Wow Hoop provides families with infants an easy way to introduce the liveliness and joy of circus. The circus acts easily captivate the attention of the infants while entertaining the parents and, afterwards, audiences can freely explore the stage area and circus equipment. Baby circus director Mette Ylikorva based the development of the performance on the needs of infant families.

Wail (2nd - 4th March)

Wail, the latest touring production from Little Bulb Theatre, features the company's signature blend of live music and theatre, offering a fun-filled 70 minutes of performance exploring whale song and human song. Wail was developed in partnership with Nuffield Theatre Southampton, using scientific research from Southampton University on sound and vibration. It seeks to answer questions like why do whales sing? And why do humans wail?

The Machine Stops (7th - 11th March)

Pilot Theatre present the acclaimed production of EM Forster's classic short story The Machine Stops, adapted for the stage by Neil Duffield. His short story masterpiece published in 1909 is astoundingly prophetic and poignant in 2017: a chilling prediction and exploration of our increasingly complex relationship with technology.

Around (12th - 13th April)

Around, presented by Race Horse Company (who brought Super Sunday to the Roundhouse in 2016) as part of Sirkus Finnish showcase, brings a caravan of hobby horses and two acrobats who transform an empty stage into a charming circus ring with the help of a band of musicians. Making its London debut, Around is a magical show that combines incredible skill, beautiful artistry and live music. Juggling, sword swallowing, hula hooping, acrobatics, clowning and a guitar-playing monkey will surprise and delight little ones and their families.

Jacksons Lane is a multi-arts venue in North London with a far-reaching, inclusive and accessible programme of performance and participation. Since 1975 they have helped launch the careers of artists like Complicite, The Mighty Boosh and Eddie Izzard. Today, they are the foremost supporter of contemporary circus in the UK, working with hundreds of artists each year to create new work.
