Full Cast Announced for CROSSING JERUSALEM at Park Theatre

Rehearsals begin today for the new production of Crossing Jerusalem, written and directed by Julia Pascal, at Park Theatre (PARK90) from 4 - 29 August. David Ricardo Pearce will play the role of Gideon. The full cast is: Louisa Clein, Waleed Elgadi, Adi Lerer, Andy Lucas, David Ricardo Pearce, Chris Spyrides, Alistair Toovey and Trudy Weiss. Press Night is Thursday 6 August, 7pm.

Jerusalem, 2002, at the height of the last intifada. The action happens over 24 hours. A wife wants to celebrate her 30th birthday. A husband does not want to have a son. A businesswoman wants to sell an apartment block. A daughter realises her mother hates women. A brother wants to kill soldiers. A soldier wants to stop soldiering. Israeli Jews, Christian Arabs and Palestinians: all meet on one day as bombs explode.

Thirteen years after Jack Gold's successful Tricycle Theatre premiere, a new production invites audiences to witness the conflict of an Israeli family and the Palestinians who have touched their lives. A year after the Second Gaza War, this play is still acutely relevant as it explores a conflict that seems it may never end.

David Ricardo Pearce's most recent theatre credits include The Middlemarch Trilogy (Orange Tree), A Midsummer Night's Dream (Bristol Old Vic) and The Sacred Flame (ETT).

Waleed Elgadi recently appeared The Scar Test (Arcola). His multiple TV credits include 'Tyrant' (Fox) and Ridley Scott's 'Killing Jesus'. He's soon to be seen in the third series of 'Crossing Lines' (NBC).

Adi Lerer has previous worked with Pascal in Woman in the Moon (Arcola Theatre), Sperm Count (Red Old Lion), and Dybbuk (The Theater for the New City, New York).

Alistair Toovey's previous theatre credits include Lord of the Flies (Open Air Theatre Regent's Park) and Cake (Edinburgh Festival Fringe).

Andy Lucas's most recent theatre credits include Chicken (Trafalgar Studios) and Yes, Prime Minister (Gielgud Theatre). His TV credits include 'Da Vinci's Demons' and 'The Musketeers', and his film credits include 'How to Lose Friends and Alienate People', 'Nativity' and 'Sexy Beast'.

Chris Spyrides has appeared in Clare Bayley's The Container on television, radio (BBC Radio Scotland) and most notably in its original theatrical incarnation, when it was the winner of The Scotsman Fringe First Award 2007 and the Amnesty International Freedom of Expression Award, as well as receiving a Best Ensemble Nomination at The Stage Awards.

Louisa Clein's most recent theatre credits include Onnet Walks (Shakespeare's Globe), City Stories (St. James Theatre) and The Railway Children (Waterloo Station). Louisa is best known for starring as Charlie Deed in 'Judge John Deed' (BBC1).

Trudy Weiss's theatre credits include Shaynah Maidel (Kings Head / West End) and After the Fall (National). Most recently she appeared on TV in 'Hannibal' and 'Suits', both for NBC.

Julia Pascal is the foremost British playwright of her generation to write about Jewish history and culture. Her play St Joan, directed by New Yorker Katrin Hilbe, was a triumph at last year's Edinburgh Festival and is currently touring continental Europe. Most recently, Pascal wrote a political drama for BBC Radio 4 series From Fact to Fiction, broadcast in late June.

Pascal has a long history as a theatre director and was the first woman to direct at the National Theatre. Her credits include productions at The Orange Tree Theatre, directing a British Council Tour and a wide variety of New Writing for Pascal Theatre Company.
