Everyman & Playhouse Names Nick Bagnall as New Associate Director, Lindsey Alvis as Producer

Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse have appointed director Nick Bagnall as their first permanent Associate Director. Bagnall joins the company following the success of The Last Days of Troy at Royal Exchange, Manchester and Shakespeare's Globe. The theatre's artistic team will also be bolstered by the appointment of Lindsey Alvis, who was previously with Headlong, as Producer.

Bagnall is currently directing Britannia Waves the Rules at Royal Exchange, Manchester. He also directed Henry VI Parts I, II and III for Shakespeare's Globe which included four open-air performances in battlefields from the plays. His other directing credits include Betrayal (Sheffield Crucible), Billy Liar (West Yorkshire Playhouse) and Entertaining Mr Sloane (Trafalgar Studios).

As a performer Bagnall acted in The Mayor Of Zalamea at the Everyman in 2004, the first production directed by Gemma Bodinetz as Artistic Director of Everyman & Playhouse. He also directed Michael McLean's Electric Hills at the Everyman in 2007.

Nick Bagnall said: "I am thrilled to be joining Gemma and Deborah as Associate Director, to support and embrace their vision and to work those beautiful spaces. It feels like coming home and I am eager to get going."

Gemma Bodinetz said: "We are delighted to announce that Nick Bagnall will be joining us our first permanent Associate Director. Nick is an experienced and exciting director whose cv encompasses acting, dramaturgy and a list of ambitious and critically acclaimed productions in many of our major national theatres as well as the West End. He will be an invaluable addition to the artistic team and will be involved in all areas of programme delivery and artist development. This position was hotly contested by a remarkable quality and range of applicants but Nick's extraordinary skillset and experience combined with his passion for the importance of regional theatre were quite outstanding."

Lindsey Alvis joins the Everyman & Playhouse following seven years with Headlong where she is currently Assistant Producer. Lindsey line produces Headlong productions on tour and in London working closely with emerging directors, including Ben Kidd and Blanche McIntyre, as well as former and current Artistic Directors Rupert Goold and Jeremy Herrin. Lindsey first worked with Everyman & Playhouse on King Lear and most recently she produced the UK tour of Spring Awakening. Other credits include: The Nether (Royal Court); American Psycho (Almeida); The Seagull (UK tour); Boys (HighTide/Soho) and Earthquakes in London (UK tour).

Lindsey Alvis said: "I'm excited to be joining Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse at such an exciting time in the organisation's development. The opening of the stunning new Everyman is testament to the continued importance of both theatres and their place at the heart of this great northern city. Everyman & Playhouse is renowned for working with world class actors, writers and directors and I look forward to nurturing the creativity of the artists we work with, making excellent theatre with a national and international reputation that excites and inspires our audiences."
