Music-comedy duo Eccentronic return to Brighton Fringe with their new comedy cabaret musical, Techno Prisoners, as part of the WINDOW platform for high quality new work.

Eccentronic - the eccentric, electronic duo comprising Warp Records producer John Callaghan and virtuoso musician and chanteuse Hypnotique - have been imprisoned for musical crimes they (probably) didn't commit. Like performing mash-up of incompatible genres (tropical pop meets Emo and Girls Aloud meets the A-Team with apocalyptic consequences), and unleashing dangerously addictive internet smash hit songs, mainly about public transport networks. (Their 2013 internet hit video, Croydon Tram, was described as "Croydon's answer to Gangnam Style.").

Due to cuts to the legal system, Eccentronic must both prosecute and defend themselves (mainly using a series of inappropriate wigs pilfered from charity shops). The audience will form judge and jury to decide whether to offer the duo a pardon.

Featuring an abundance of unusual instrumentation (including virtuoso theremin, the electronic instrument played without touch) and musical arrangements (their theremin and music box arrangement of 'The Thong Song' is legendary) and quick witted lyrical wordplay, Techno Prisoners verges from surrealism akin to 'The Mighty Boosh' through to serious social topics. They will attempt to fuse the pop hits of Pharrell Williams with a missive on human rights. Watch them succeed...or be doomed to Cell Block Z damnation.

Techno Prisoners has been selected by a panel of industry experts for inclusion in WINDOW. New for 2014, WINDOW is Brighton Fringe's Arts Industry showcase. It offers a platform for high quality, new work from 2 - 7 May. WINDOW is supported by Arts Council England, and is partnered by The Stage.

Neurovision marks the duo's third performance at Brighton Fringe, following critically acclaimed Edinburgh and Brighton Fringe productions Neurovision (2013) and We Won't Rock You (2012).

Eccentronic are repeating their 2013 show, Neurovision, celebrating all things Eurovision - as a pay-what-you-want performance to encourage more people to experience Free Fringe cabaret. (showing at The Quadrant, 12:45, selected weekend dates).

Dates: May 3-5, 9-11, 16-18, 23-25, 31st May - 1st June, 18:00. May 5, May 26 (Bank Holiday Mondays) 15:30. Tickets: £5 from www.Brightonfringe.org or on the door (2-for-1 Friends of Brighton Fringe offers available). This show is part of the Laughing Horse Free Festival 18+ venue.
