Geoids Musical Theatre have announced a new production of Cy Coleman's multi-award winning musical comedy On the Twentieth Century which comes to London for a limited run at the Bridewell Theatre from 25 to 29 October 2016.

Hot on the heels of the astonishing Broadway revival, On the Twentieth Century is a sparkling, fast-paced and witty screwball comedy with book and lyrics by the team behind Singing in the Rain and music by Cy Coleman (Sweet Charity, Little Me, City of Angels).

Set in the 1920s, it focuses on egomaniacal theatre producer Oscar Jaffee and his volatile personal and professional relationship with the arrogant film actress Lily Garland. After four flops in a row, Jaffee is facing ruin. He books a suite on the luxury train the Twentieth Century Limited, heading from Chicago to New York City. Also on board are Garland and her new beau, narcissistic heartthrob Bruce Granit. Jaffee hopes he can lure Garland back to the stage and salvage his sinking career. She is just as determined to escape his charm and a hysterical battle of wits begins.

On the Twentieth Century is a show with a big, quasi-operatic sound, uproarious and side-splitting dialogue and classic choreography. This production will feature the full original orchestrations, which are rarely heard, alongside a talented cast of 26 performers.

This new production is directed by Matt Bentley with musical direction by Jerome van den Berghe and choreography by Nichola Welch.

Geoids Musical Theatre have recently been represented in London with productions of Hair, Sweet Charity, She Loves Me, and the Central London amateur premiere of Sunset Boulevard which ran at the Bridewell Theatre in October 2015.
