C venues will operate the India Buildings on Victoria Street for this coming Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August 2012. One of Edinburgh's best-known A-listed buildings in the heart of the Old Town, India Buildings will operate under the festival name C nova.

C venues will not be operating C SoCo this year, after five years in the building, as the Cowgate gap site owners begin the long-awaited development.

C nova is located centrally between of C's other venues for 2012, which include C at Adam House on Chambers Street, C eca at the Edinburgh College of Art, C too at St Columba's by the Castle and C aquila at the Roman Eagle Lodge.

Hartley T A Kemp, artistic director of C venues, said: "We are really excited about creating a unique Festival venue in this landmark city-centre building. C nova will make full use of the architecture, heritage and character of India Buildings, and we are looking forward to offering Fringe artists and audiences something very special."

C nova will house theatres, site specific performance spaces, visual arts exhibitions, bars, events, late night cabaret, workshops, and a press and performer lounge over its seven floors. The venue will make use of the building's unique architectural features, including high-ceilinged spaces, a vaulted basement and the first floor rotunda gallery.

Among shows to play at C nova are immersive performance company Belt Up Theatre's new adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett's A LITTLE PRINCESS, as well as their acclaimed shows THE BOY JAMES and OUTLAND (sell-out 2011) which won the coveted Sixth Star Bobby's Award from Broadway Baby.

The Flanagan Collective's Little Festival of Everything will have their own, dedicated interactive theatre space with over 8 shows, including the return of the family show, WILLIAM.

Joss Brushfield, Director of West Register, said: "West Register is delighted to support the Edinburgh Festivals through the use of India Buildings as a venue whilst we work with CEC on regeneration plans including the development of a new hotel and their refurbishment of the Central
Library."

In 2012, C venues will celebrate 21 years at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
