Nine and Numb is pitting "Zombie" against "Mummy" improv actors in its annual 18+ Halloween "Night of the Laughing Dead" mature comedy improv show at 11pm on October 24 at Carrollwood Players Theatre, 4333 Gunn Highway.

This year there's a twist - The audience gets to keep a scorecard of how their favorite team is doing for each comedy short and at the end of the evening, reveal a winner.

Featuring skits that the crowd dictates by calling out suggestions for accents, sounds, scenes, locations, relationships, and situations, the Halloween show will pit team against team- a showdown to see which undead will reign supreme. Occasionally, an audience member will join the cast on stage to become part of the story.

"Improv is 'comedy at the speed of thought,' as Nine and Numb's motto suggests. We play games and create scenes on the spot, based on suggestions we get from the audience. As our fearless leader, Kelly Clow, always says, "It's just like 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?' except none of us are millionaires, and we can see when you get up to go to the bathroom," joked Erica Garraffa, one of the many multi-talented volunteer improv performers.

While their leader Kelly is in Grand Forks preparing for his thirteenth year producing Rocky Horror Picture Show, the cast will consist of John Watson, John Hooper, Tiger Von Pagel, Jesse Hutson, James Hollingsworth, Eric Misener, Angel Borths, with BC Murphy as referee.

"Laugh yourself to death.... And come back for more," said Jesse.

Guests are encouraged to come in costume for half off the regular $10 adult admission. Tickets are available online or at the box office.

"Expect to laugh. Expect to participate. Expect to be surprised. Expect adult content. And expect at some point to hear the phrase "Shut up, James," teased Tiger.
