The Magnets to Return to Adelaide with HOMEGROWN, Feb 14-March 17

International a cappella stars The Magnets are returning to Adelaide for the 2013 Fringe with their new Best-of-British show HOMEGROWN - an evening of glorious harmonies and jaw-dropping beatboxing celebrating five decades of British pop music from The Beatles and Led Zeppelin through to Adele.

One of the break-through acts of the 2012 Adelaide Fringe and 2011 Cabaret Festival, this six-man sound machine make all their music with their mouths alone in a sonically stunning, spectacularly theatrical, TOTALLY a cappella show.

HOMEGROWN will play in The Vagabond at The Garden of Unearthly Delights from 14 February - 17 March (except 18th, 25th, 4th, 11th) from 8.20 - 9.20pm. Tickets ($40-$38) may be purchased by phone 1300 FRINGE (1300 374 643), online at OR, or at the door 30 minutes before a performance. Running time: 60 Minutes.

Literally a 'six-man sound machine', The Magnets make all their music with their mouths alone, including the drums of vocal percussionist/beat-boxer Andy Frost and the richly textured bass of Fraser Collins. However, this is no attempt to mimic instruments, but rather the blending of six distinctive voices to create a unique sound that rivals any band with guitars and keyboards.

Conceived in the shadow of the London Olympics, HOMEGROWN includes an incredible mega-medley history of British pop and beatboxer Andy Frost's show-stopping solo. Musically sophisticated, stylishly choreographed and spiced with humour and audience participation, the show also offers a taste of the band's award winning original songs and some cheekily anglicised Aussie classics.

The Magnets have paid their dues as a student group and street performers through a major record deal with EMI and more than a decade of international touring. They have supported artists such as Blondie and Tom Jones and performed private shows for heads of state, supermodels and royalty. 2013 will see the release of their fourth studio album on Wrasse Records, supported by tours of New Zealand, Australia and Europe.
