Get your picnic baskets, red roses and waltzing shoes ready! On Saturday 14 March, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra will perform a free concert - "Vienna's Greatest Hits" - in Parramatta Park.

The concert will sweep audiences away to Vienna and beyond with music from the great masters such as Strauss and Ravel. Bring a picnic to enjoy under the stunning night sky in a world heritage-listed site.

Conducting the Sydney Symphony Orchestra will be Ward Stare, who has been described by the St. Louis Tribune as "one of the hottest young conductors in America". Joining him on stage will be superstar Argentinean mezzo-soprano Daniela Mack who is sure to bring a sultry flamenco sound to her performance of Falla's Seven Popular Spanish Songs.

Sydney Symphony Orchestra Managing Director Rory Jeffes said around half the performances given by the Orchestra each year are at venues away from its home, the Sydney Opera House.

"The Sydney Symphony Orchestra has a long history of performing free outdoor concerts for the people of New South Wales, including our annual tradition of playing in Parramatta Park," Mr Jeffes said. "We're grateful to the Parramatta Park Trust and NSW Government for their continued support of this event which takes classical music beyond the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall and helps us achieve our goal of reaching the wider community."**
