Seraphim Trio presents the latest Independent Theatre Sunday afternoon musical treat on 25 June when the award-winning chamber ensemble takes music lovers on a journey through time in the agile and expressive vehicle of the piano trio.

The concert is part of the popular Prelude in Tea concert series at the spectacular North Sydney venue.
The last-Sunday-of-the-month chamber music series at the acoustically perfect heritage theatre has been a runaway success, offering a scrumptious afternoon tea from 2:30 as a prelude to a 3:30 concert from some of Australia's most exciting musicians.
Music, food and drink... an irresistible triple treat!

Join Seraphim as they move from the Viennese salon of Mozart to the rich subjectivities of Brahms, to the vivid folk imaginings of Dvorak, and the colour and majesty of Ravel.
This, the stand-alone second of two recitals at the Independent Theatre in North Sydney, promises to be an adventure of sound, emotion and conversation, and a glorious celebration of human artistic achievement.

The program begins with Mozart's trio in B flat K. 502, which rejoices in the rich classical voice of this emerging genre.

From Mozart's salon we travel to Czechoslovakia for Dvorak's most popular folk tunes, embodied in his beloved 'Dumky' trio.

Finally, we come to Ravel's great trio which remains, even today, a wondrous modern incantation of sound and texture.

Seraphim Trio never fails to delight audiences.
Over the last two decades, Seraphim Trio - Helen Ayres (violin), Anna Goldsworthy (piano) and Tim Nankervis (cello) - has remained steadfastly committed to chamber music - from building the contemporary repertoire, to developing new audiences and teaching the next generation of performers.

Winners of the Piano Trio Prize and the Audience Choice Award at the Australian National Chamber Music Competition in 2001 (now the Asia-Pacific Chamber Music Competition), Seraphim has regularly performed at the Melbourne International Arts Festival, the Port Fairy Spring Music Festival, the Adelaide Festival of Arts, the Peninsular Summer Music Festival and in 2013, Opera Australia's Ring Festival in Melbourne. Alongside its acclaimed subscription series Seraphim Trio is frequently broadcast on ABC Classic FM and on the MBS network, and maintains a robust commissioning program.
