After a Sold-Out season and critical acclaim at Griffin Theatre in 2016, TRIBUNAL is returning for a very special season, at the home of PYT in Fairfield, Australia's most culturally diverse suburb.

This March, Western Sydney's award winning company PYT | Fairfield presents TRIBUNAL, an ambitious performance project that brings together indigenous elders, artists, human rights workers, refugees and lawyers to address Australia's true history by telling the parallel stories of indigenous Australia and newly arrived refugees.

Fusing Contemporary Theatre with legal procedure, personal history and intimate conversations, TRIBUNAL is a profound new theatre work.

The collaborators/performers in Tribunal combine PYT's most exciting young artists with Australia's significant cultural leaders. Performers/collaborators include indigenous elder, artist and activist, Rhonda Dixon Grovenor; award-winning young Afghani artist and asylum seeker, Mahdi Mohammadi; actor and recent refugee to Australia, Jawad Yaqoubi; artist, lawyer and human rights worker, Katie Green; Dr Paul Dwyer of Version 1.0 and Sydney University; and PYT | Fairfield Artistic Director and arts activist, Karen Therese.

Each night, an Australian Truth and Reconciliation Tribunal will be created to interrogate and explore notions of truthand lies around the politically contentious labels of 'refugee' and 'asylum seeker'. The performers/collaborators will offer provocations, thoughts and experiences in a performed conversation on issues that directly affect the community of Western Sydney -and how these perspectives impact the broader Australian community.

Guest speakers from Western Sydney's broader arts and refugee and asylum seeker community will also be invited to share their experiences and speak at performances, including local slam poets, trauma nurses and Indigenous leaders. The audience will have an opportunity to share in the conversation and discuss their own experiences.

TRIBUNAL was presented by Griffin Theatre in 2016 at the SBW Stables Theatre.
