Prince Siegfried is smitten by the legend of a princess who has been turned to a swan. He goes to the lake alone at night to find her. The Swan Princess shows herself to him, but only true love and fidelity can save her from the spell that has her enchanted and defeat the evil sorcerer.
The Russian folk tale about the prince who falls in love with the swan princess has with Pyotr Tchaikovsky's dramatic and romantic music become the world's best known ballet. The double role of the white and black swans is one of classical ballet's most demanding. Created for the Royal Swedish Ballet in 1964 by the Russian choreographer Natalia Conus, the Swedish Company remains the only one in the world to perform this stunning classical interpretation.
