The musical maturity of Nelson Freire takes to the piano to play the exquisite Chopin Concerto. The renowned Brazilian pianist brings his particular interpretation of great romanticism to Barcelona under the baton of Josep Pons, who also performs Brahms’s Second Symphony and a work by the Catalan Manuel Blancafort.
At the age of 20, Chopin had already written the two piano concertos of his catalogue, works full of grace – and virtuosity –, which helped him to appear before the public in Vienna and Paris. The passionate romanticism that inspired him all his life has the same intensity as that which drove Brahms in his Second Symphony, a great and direct work, with some fragments full of melancholy and others soaked in an exultant joy.
