BWW Mini-Review: SEUSSICAL JR at Mill Town Players Will Charm Both Children and Adults Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and many more of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters come to life onstage in Seussical JR., now playing at Mill Town Players in Pelzer, SC.

Director Katie Halstensgard's ensemble does an outstanding job, displaying enough energy and enthusiasm to engage children and adults alike.

Entering the theatre I immediately felt like I was walking into a Seuss book. Cameron Woodson's set and costumes simply pop. Additionally, Woodson plays Horton the Elephant, the show's central character. He's earnest and winning in the role.

Other performers who stood out - especially for their OUTSTANDING voices - were Meris Privette as the delightfully self-absorbed Mayzie; Elana Purvis and Adelle Mackey as the dismissive Sour Kangaroo and her snooty Young Kangaroo; Jack Higginbotham as the thoughtful young boy, Jojo; and Jacob Hensley as the magical Cat in the Hat.

I have to also give a shout out to the great work of Musical Director LeRoy Kennedy and, especially, the infectious choreography of Danielle Jeanjaquet. My whole family had a great time watching this tight show, which runs about an hour and fifteen minutes, with no intermission.BWW Mini-Review: SEUSSICAL JR at Mill Town Players Will Charm Both Children and Adults

Here's a show summary: Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that's been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!
