First Look at ELIS, A MUSICAL premiering in São Paulo

The city of São Paulo opens this week a original Brazilian musical that honors the woman Elis Regina, famous Brazilian singer who made her career that was acclaimed throughout the country during the 60s, 70s and 80s. On March 12, 2014 the show was presented to the press at 'Teatro Alfa', announcing its arrival in São Paulo (after the smash hit in the city of Rio de Janeiro last year). Yesterday at 88 Madison Avenue, the cast of Pippin celebrated the show's new partnership with Carlton Hotel with a live performance, nail art painting provided by Caravan Stylist Studio and circus-inspired refreshments provided by the Carlton hotel. The Carlton hotel's new PIPPIN the Musical Package will be available starting January, running through March 2014. The package includes overnight luxury accommodations, tickets to PIPPIN, cocktails at restaurant Millesime and a CD soundtrack from the show. (more...)

Neuwirth, who won a 1997 Tony Award for her acclaimed portrayal of jazz-age killer Velma Kelly and returned ten years later as merry murderess Roxie Hart, made Broadway history in the role of Matron 'Mama' Morton for an eight-week limited engagement through Sunday, March 9 at the Ambassador Theatre (219 W. 49th St.).
