The Santa Monica Playhouse presents the World Premiere of local playwright Lisa Phillips Visca's Raise Me Up. Raise Me Up is a true story set in post war America in the 1950's, about a 'moonstruck' couple's forbidden love, the hilarity and drama from their deeply passionate Italian-Greek families, and how they spent their last day on Earth together. Downstairs Cabaret Theatre, in collaboration with GFOUR Productions (producers of Menopause the Musical and winners of more than 30 Tony Awards), has announced what promises to be Rochester's next hit musical: MOTHERHOOD THE MUSICAL, running now through November 18. Penguin Rep Theatre (Joe Brancato, Artistic Director, and Andrew M. Horn, Executive Director) and Morton Wolkowitz (Stomp, The Unexpected Man) will present the Off-Broadway premiere of Miracle On South Division Street, by Tom Dudzick, directed by Joe Brancato. Bay Street Theatre is pleased to announce BETTY'S SUMMER VACATION, by Christopher Durang; directed by Trip Cullman will be the second Mainstage Production for 2011 running July 5-31.

The Broadway community once again opened its arms to the students of John A. Coleman Catholic High School of Hurley, New York. The school, which has gained a reputation for some of the best young musical theater talent in the Hudson River Valley, produced The Secret Garden in honor of the 20th anniversary of the show's Broadway debut in April of 1991. The cast of Coleman Musical Theater's production recently traveled into New York City to meet members of the original Broadway cast.

Following the Off-Broadway smash Girls Night: The Musical, comes a new show that continues the party! GIRL TALK: THE MUSICAL, is now playing at the Midtown Theatre, 163 West 46th Street just east of Broadway.

The Awesome 80s Prom, now in its 6th year at the famed club Webster Hall welcomed Dustin Diamond, best known as Screech from the hit TV series 'Saved by the Bell,' on Friday, May 21st for six weeks only through June 26th. The show's conceiver and director, Ken Davenport, revised the script and created a special role for Diamond to play - the role of Dustin Diamond himself. BroadwayWorld was on hand to shoot the rehearsal and Diamond's performance debut.

After 17 years, Tony n' Tina are heading on their honeymoon. Route 66 Theatre Company will present the Chicago premiere of HIGH FIDELITY in its first major production since its Broadway run in 2006. The show started previews August 8, 2009; opened Monday, August 17 at 7 p.m.; and will run through October 11, 2009 at the Tony n' Tina's Wedding space at Pipers Alley Theater.

Previews are now underway at Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) for the New York premiere of Our House, a new play by Pulitzer Prize finalist Theresa Rebeck (The Butterfly Collection and Bad Dates at Playwrights Horizons, Broadway's Mauritius, co-author of Omnium Gatherum). A scathing new comedy that shakes up Reality TV, Our House is the final production of the theater company's 2008/2009 Season.

Ars Nova (Jason Eagan, Artistic Director; Jon Steingart and Jenny Wiener Steingart, Executive Producers) presents the World Premiere of MEL & EL: SHOW AND TELL. This new comedy with original music, best described as a musical Laverne & Shirley-meets-Sex and the City, is written and performed by Melanie Adelman and Ellie Dvorkin, with music by Patrick Spencer Bodd, and developed with and directed by Moritz von Stuelpnagel. Previews begin May 6 at Ars Nova, with an official press opening on May 15.
