Georgia Ensemble Theatre (GET), North Fulton's only professional theatre company, will end its twenty-first season with the musical blockbuster that is Camelot, with book and lyrics by Alan J. Lerner, and music by Frederick Loewe. Georgia Ensemble Theatre audiences will be treated to this story and fabulous music by an extremely gifted ensemble of outstanding Atlanta artists. This long-loved show is now poised to touch in new ways a generation that was around when it opened on Broadway in the early 60s, and an entirely new generation as well. GET Artistic Director Robert F. Farley directs this production. Camelot runs April 10-27, 2014, at the Theatre's home, the Roswell Cultural Arts Center, 950 Forrest Street, Roswell, GA. Founded in 1979 by its Artistic Director, Jeffrey Horowitz, Theatre for a New Audience's next act is about to begin with the opening of its Center for Shakespeare and Classical Drama in Brooklyn. The inaugural production is Julie Taymor's staging of A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare with original music by Elliot Goldenthal. Every year, the Utah Shakespeare Festival works to capture the Bard's characters onstage. Oil Painter Richard Lance Russell does the same thing on canvas. This year, a solo exhibit of his paintings will be featured at the Festival. The paintings, depicting powerful scenes and memorable characters from Shakespeare's plays, will hang in the Randall L. Jones Theatre Gallery throughout the season, from June to October. An opening reception will be held on June 28th from 5:30-7:00 pm and Russell will be signing his work on June 29th from 12:45-1:45.
