Orphans Photos - Off-Broadway

Nunsense, with book music and lyrics by Dan Goggin, has become quite a cottage industry since its debut off-Broadway in 1985. The original production ran for 3,672 performances, making it the second-longest-running off-Broadway show in history (behind Fantasticks). Since that successful opening, the playwright has concocted six sequels and three spinoffs. A couple of years ago, Desert Theatreworks presented Nunsense: The Mega Musical, one of the spinoffs, which was basically the original five-nun musical expanded to a cast of 17, with a couple of new songs added. They are currently presenting Nunsensations, the fifth of the six sequels.

The Broadway production of Lyle Kessler's Orphans starring Alec Baldwin, Ben Foster and Tom Sturridge and directed by Daniel Sullivan, is currently in previews at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre (236 West 45th Street) in preparation for a Thursday, April 18 opening night. ORPHANS will begin performances on March 19 and open on April 7 2013 at the Schoenfeld Theatre (236 West 45th Street), marking the first Broadway staging of the play. Alec Baldwin and Shia LaBeouf star in Lyle Kessler's play, directed by Daniel Sullivan and produced by Frederick Zollo and Robert Cole. Westchester Broadway Theatre presents Fiddler On The Roof, with Music by Jerry Bock, Lyrics Sheldon Harnick and Book by Joseph Stein. This production is directed and choreographed by Richard Stafford with musical direction by Leo P. Carusone. The Signature Theatre has released the artwork (below left) for its upcoming production of Tony Kushner's ANGELS IN AMERICA, The New York Times reveals. The play will open Off Broadway on September 14. Milton Glaser, who created the art for the original Broadway production (below right), also created the new artwork.
