Just last night, Roundabout Theatre Company welcomed Kelli O'Hara (Lilli Vanessi), Will Chase (FrEd Graham), Robert Fairchild (Bill), Helene Yorke (Lois), Chuck Cooper (Harry Trevor/Baptista), Norm Lewis (Harrison), Richard Kind (Gangster) and John Pankow (Gangster) for a one-night-only Benefit Concert Reading of Kiss Me, Kate, with music and lyrics by Cole Porter and book by Sam and Bella Spewack, music direction by Patrick Vaccariello and choreography by Warren Carlyle. Roundabout's Associate Artistic Director, Scott Ellis, directed this special event.

Cole Porters erfolgreichstes Musical KISS ME, KATE spielt raffiniert mit der Handlung, ist ein Stuck-im-Stuck, in dem die pragnantesten Szenen der beruhmten Shakespeare-Vorlage aufgegriffen werden. Die Szenenwechsel sind so rasant wie amusant und niemand muss ohne Ohrwurm nach Hause gehen! Das zeigt das Opernhaus Nurnberg seit diesem Wochenende. Als zwielichtige Ganoven mit bestechenden Shakespeare-Kenntnissen treten keine Geringeren als Lokalmatadoren Heißmann und Rassau auf den Plan. Sophie Berner und Christian Alexander Muller stehen in den zentralen Rollen auf der Buhne, unterstutzt werden sie von Antonia Welke als Lois Lane und Manuel Dengler als Bill.

Cole Porters Musical-Klassiker von 1948 strotzt nur so vor Evergreens: „Wunderbar!', „So In Love', „Viel zu heiß!' oder „Schlag nach bei Shakespeare' sind nur einige der fantastischen Songs, die Kiss Me, Kate unsterblich gemacht haben. Gleich nach der Urauffuhrung am Broadway gewann das Musical funf der begehrten Tony-Awards, unter anderem als bestes Musical des Jahres. Unter der Regie und der musikalischen Leitung der niederbayerischen Musical-Geheimwaffen Stefan Tilch und Basil H. E. Coleman verspricht KISS ME, KATE ein weiteres Highlight im Reigen der Landestheater-Musical-Produktionen zu werden. Die Premiere fand am vergangenen Freitag in Landshut statt, weitere Veranstaltungen finden sowohl hier aus als auch in Passau und Staubingen noch bis Februrar 2016 statt.

Cole Porters Musical KISS ME KATE gewann 1949, im Jahr nach der Urauffuhrung, allein funf Tony Awards. Mitreißender Swing, unvergessene Evergreens, quirlige Tanzszenen und spritzige Texte garantieren nach uber eintausend Broadway-Auffuhrungen bis heute den Erfolg. Zumal Porter im Ehepaar Spewack kongeniale Partner hatte, deren Textbuch mit einer großen Portion Ironie einen selbstkritischen Blick auf allerlei absurde Theaterklischees wirft. In dem Maße, wie sich Buhnenfiktion und reales Geschehen annahern, gewinnt das Stuck an Situationskomik und ist am Ende viel mehr als eine Liebesgeschichte. Das Staatstheater Kassel bring diesen Musicalklassiker in dieser Spielzeit im Opernhaus auf die Buhne. Die Premiere fand am vergangenen Samstag statt und wurde mit großem Beifall gefeiert. Und auch Kritiker zeigten sich angetan.

 Primrose Productions presents photos of Brooke M. Haney in rehearsals for Kiss Me or Cut Off Me Head, a new adaptation of the Medusa myth from the poetry of Sheryl St. Germain, and directed by Tracy Bersley (choreographer for On the Levee at Lincoln Center, LCT3). Theatre intersects with visual art and poetry in this haunting and galvanizing perspective of the Medusa myth. Kiss Me or Cut Off My Head will play a three week limited engagement at the Soho Photo Gallery (15 White Street, New York, NY 10013). Performances begin Thursday, August 20th and continue through Saturday, September 5th, 2015 . Opening Night is Thursday, August 20th at 7:30 pm. ?The Old Globe and Hartford Stage's co-production of Kiss Me, Kate, the classic musical comedy featuring a book by Sam and Bella Spewack and an iconic score by Cole Porter, will be choreographed by Peggy Hickey and directed by Hartford Stage Artistic Director and former Old Globe Shakespeare Festival Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak, who won the 2014 Tony Award for Best Direction of a Musical for A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, which made its world premiere at The Old Globe and Hartford Stage in 2013. Tom Hewitt, Lesli Margherita, Meg Gillentine and Seán Martin Hingston are the Broadway and West End stars that will lead the cast of Reprise Theatre Company's third production of the 2010-2011 season, 'Kiss Me, Kate', playing May 10 to 22 (press opening May 11, 2011) at UCLA's Freud Playhouse. The musical - with music and lyrics by Cole Porter and book by Samuel and Bella Spewack will be directed by Michael Michetti, co-artistic director of The Theatre @ Boston Court and choreographed by Lee Martino. Michael Paternostro will serve as musical director.
