The OBIE-winning HERE announces the line-up for CULTUREMART 2014, taking place January 28 - February 9. In CULTUREMART, process becomes the focus, as this annual festival offers a first look at live performance work in various stages of development from the boundary-breaking artists in the HERE Artist Residency Program (HARP) on their journey to mainstage productions. CULTUREMART 2014 serves up 13 adventurous workshop performances of new hybrid work that blurs the lines between theater, dance, music, multimedia, puppetry and visual art. Flat Rock Playhouse is teaming with veteran Broadway composer Frank Wildhorn (For The Glory, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Wonderland) and lyricist Jack Murphy on a brand new 'jazz age' musical set in Asheville, North Carolina. Loosely based on F. Scott Fitzgerald, the hot Jazz Age novelist who wrote 'This Side of Paradise,' 'The Beautiful and Damned,' 'The Great Gatsby,' 'Tender Is the Night' and 'The Last Tycoon,' and his wife, Zelda. A NIGHT AT THE OPERETTA on July 14th featured the sounds of Broadway music one rarely gets to hear anymore - Operetta - including music by Sigmund Romberg, Rudolph Friml and Victor Herbert. A NIGHT AT THE OPERETTA featured Alexander Gemignani, Lisa Howard, William Michals, Jennifer Hope Wills, Christine Andreas, Bill Daugherty, Brian Charles Rooney, Karen Murphy, John Easterlin, Jason Graae and Milla Ilieva. The show featured the dance talents of Eric Sean Fogel, J. Austin Eyer, Billy Harrigan Tighe, and Ben Franklin. The show is under the direction of Dan Foster with musical direction by Fred Barton
